About Us
Hi, I’m Dirk, founder of RockEast Drum School.
When I was 12 years old I had a music teacher at school who encouraged me to audition as the drummer for the school rock band. I’d never played drums before…ever! I auditioned and somehow got the job. I loved playing drums straight away.
I had found ‘my thing’!
This then led me on a journey that would see me play thousands of shows all over the UK, play with hundreds of fantastic musicians and make friends for life along the way.
Here at Rockeast Drum School we aim to encourage our students in the same way that my school music teacher did all those years ago.
Just have a go, enjoy it and see what happens. Drumming might just be ‘your thing’ too.
Meet The Tutors
Dirk
Founder and Head Tutor Dirk Forsdyke has been teaching music full time since 2004, working with hundreds (possibly thousands??) of students both privately and in many local schools and youth music projects.
Ed
Hi, I’m Ed! I can’t wait to share my love of the instrument with others. From my first live show I knew I’d found my passion, and I hope I can help my students find the same! As a young tutor I can relate to my students well, and want to create the most supportive learning environment possible
Jack
After studying with Dirk and completing his Grade 8, Jack went on to attain a 1st Class Degree in Music Performance at The Academy of Contemporary Music. This provided him with many opportunities to play with a variety of musicians and bands, both on stage and in the studio.
